Your Stay at Cogdell Memorial Hospital
Your care and stay will take place in the main hospital
building.
The three floors house:
- First floor:
Registration and Admitting Services including registration, cashier, waiting areas
Chapel
OB and Nursery including labor, delivery and recovery rooms, patient rooms and nursery, and a family waiting area. This is a secure area.
Day Surgery including operating room, recovery, waiting rooms and patient rooms
Pharmacy
Lab
Respiratory Therapy
Radiology including CT scans, mammographies MRI's, X-rays and more
Emergency Department (separate public entrance) offering 24-hour emergency services and family waiting areas
Health Records and Health Information Management. This is a secure area.
Cafeteria and Dining Room
Auxiliary Gift Shop and Snack Bar
Administrative and Business Support offices
Board Room
Waiting Areas
- Third floor:
Patient Care floor, including 22 patient beds in private rooms, family waiting room and Special Care Unit.
- Fourth floor:
Assisted Living Center
Personal Items
Please remember that you are responsible for your belongings during your stay.
Consider limiting the items you bring to essentials.
Leave jewelry, personal stereos, mementos and other unnecessary items at
home.
If you are transferred to an operating area,, or sent for certain diagnostic tests, your personal belongings—including eyeglasses, hearing aids, etc.—must be removed from your room. Your family members can help look after your items during this time.
Nursing Staff
During your stay at Cogdell Memorial Hospital, you will be cared for by registered nurses (RNs), licensed vocational nurses (LVNs), certified nurse assistants (CNAs). These professionals work as a team with your doctor and other medical professionals on our staff to ensure that you receive the best possible care.
If you have any questions or concerns while at Cogdell, please let your nurse know.
Spiritual Care
A volunteer chaplain in available to offer spiritual support, sacramental ministry, and counseling for you and your family. The chaplain is on call for emergency needs after hours and on weekends. If you would like to speak with a chaplain or other clery, ask your nurse to contact them.
Chapel
The Chapel is a quiet, sacred area for personal meditation, reflection, and prayer. Everyone is welcomed to use the facility at anytime. It is located just inside the main lobby the the south of the exit / entrance doors.
Telephone Calls
Your personal telephone number is on the phone beside your bed. You can make the following calls:
- In-hospital calls:
Dial the four-digit extension. To reach the hospital operator, dial 0. - Local calls:
Dial 9 to get an outside line, then the number you are calling. - Long Distance Calls:
Must be placed as collect call or charged to patient's home phone number.
Cellular Phones
Cellular phone calls are allowed within the health center. There may be areas or times you may be asked to turn phones off because of the possibility they may interfere with medical equipment. That inference can occur even if the phones are in "stand-by" mode. Please turn off cellular phones during your stay if asked, and ask your visitors to do the same.
Television
Every patient room has a television, and all channels are offered to you free of charge.
Meals
The Dietary department at Cogdell Memorial Hospital provides a wide variety of delicious, healthful foods that are appropriate for your individual situation.Typically your physician will define your eating plan/menu options. We ask that you not ask outside food be brought in for you until you have verified with your nurse that it is acceptable.

Please read about Cogdell's visiting hours here. Please check with your nurse regarding patient visitation hours and requirements for your individual unit.
Pharmacy Services
All medications prescribed for you while you are here will be provided by the Cogdell pharmacy and administered by the Nursing Staff.
IF your physician asks you to bring medications from home, he will indicate that to the nurse who will follow up with that process.
If you have questions about your medications, ask your nurse.
Organ or Tissue Donation
If you would like to complete an organ donor card or would like more information about organ or Tissue donation, please contact LifeGift, the organ and tissue procurement agency for Scurry County and all of our region of Texas, at 800-633-6562
Dining Facilities
Public food service is available in the first floor Cafeteria and
Dining Room (southwest part of building).
Breakfast is served 7:45am - 8:45am and lunch 11:00am - 1:00pm, 7 days a
week.
The Auxiliary Snack Bar is open 8am to 2pm Monday - Friday.
Vending machines with snacks and beverages are also located on the first
floor.
